NGOs Tackling These Issues 

Liberty in North Korea (LiNK) started in 2010 with the main goals of spreading information on North Korea, helping North Korean defectors safely leave China, and assisting in defector resettlement and empowerment. LiNK has provided resources to 1300 defectors in an effort to help them find safe passage out of China and into resettlement efforts in South Korea. This organization does an excellent job of platforming the experiences of those they help and including them in the conversations on what the future of helping North Koreans might look like. Durihana is a faith-based organization founded in 1999 that aims to spread the Christian gospel to North Koreans, help individuals escape North Korea, support refugees in China, and prepare defectors for reintegration into society. Durihana has established safe houses in China for human trafficking victims to find refuge and resources. The North Korean Freedom Collation was established in 2003 in order to connect concerned citizens, politicians, and NGOs in an effort to help those suffering from human rights abuses in North Korea. In 2004 they created North Korea Freedom Day (which has turned into North Korean Freedom week) as a way to set aside time for people to recognize the current situation of those still residing in North Korea and to engage in attempts to aid those in need. PSCORE was started in 2006 with the main goals of understanding reunification efforts and supporting North Korean refugees as they leave their home country and integrate into a new society. Alongside raising funds and creating educational opportunities for North Korean refugees, this organization has also worked as a consultative body to the United Nations Economics Council and Social Council. PSCORE believes that its efforts in understanding and remedying this current human rights crisis will aid in "[ensuring] the successful, secure, and sustainable reunification of the Korean Peninsula."
